Cal Grace studied art in Liverpool and later in Lancaster and has filled the homes of her family and friends with her joyous, quirky and vibrant art ever since – whether they wanted her to or not. Over the years she has worked as a graphic designer at the Wild Fowl Trust, she is an expert at finding hidden beauty in the oddest of home furniture and is a much in demand source of highly individual charming decorative gifts. Her work adds colour and spark to every home and her delight in creating festive decorations for every season is evident in every item.

All work is created in situ and in one session. My work is a response to the variety and beauty of the local landscape, ever changing yet constant in its supply of texture, colour, movement and energy. Working outdoors is a multi-sensory experience and has been my main practice alongside being an art educator.

I am based in Dorset on the South Coast of the UK so many of my images are taken beachside or harbourside at popular destinations or at sites that are tucked away in our beautiful countryside.  Otherwise, I just try to capture anything interesting, something that tells a story or maybe just something a bit out of the ordinary.  My black Labrador often accompanies me so he may feature from time to time – if I can get him to sit still for long enough!

My work illustrates my love of the seaside and textiles processes.  I combine stitch and fabric with beach combings sourced from local coastal areas.

My work is created in my studio near Wimborne Minster, on  local beaches and countryside.

I paint anything that tells a story.  Usually I work with acrylic but I experiment with all mediums and methods of creating a picture.

I worked for many years, as an associate lecturer, specializing in CGI (Computer Generated Imagery), Architectural Visualisation, Computer Animation and Digital Art, for Bournemouth University.  The processes involved in creating digital art inform my practice still, both in method and in style.
